This dynamic individual will be responsible for direction of patient care activities in the Emergency Department. Manages staff in the Emergency Department, provides management of operational and nursing activities. Consults with staff, physicians and the Nurse Executive on nursing problems and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met. Job Duties/Responsibilities: Orients staff, provides continuing education and competency evaluation to staff in department regarding specialized knowledge and skills necessary for proficient practice in the clinical setting. Guides staff learning in order to enhance team performance. Maintains documentation of these activities. Ensures staff participation in in-service programs.Creates and maintains employee schedules. Monitors staff attendance to policy and coaches/counsels accordingly. Improves department processes that positively impact results. Effectively manages people through changing conditions. Completes performance reviews in a timely manner. Evaluates staff performance, making recommendations for areas of, and strategies for, improvement. Mentors and develops staff.
