Description We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for a Real Estate Accountant in the non-profit industry, based in Long Beach, California. You will be tasked with a range of responsibilities, primarily focused on real estate accounting, financial analysis, and process improvement. Responsibilities: - Analyze and review property financial statements on a monthly basis - Establish and uphold accounting processes and standards for Property Management Companies - Serve as the primary accounting point of contact for property management companies - Act as an auditing intermediary for all properties and property managers - Create and maintain permanent records for actively managed properties - Prepare quarterly and year-end adjustments to property financial statements in alignment with GAAP requirements - Reconcile related party fees and communicate accrued fees to the corporate team - Review the accuracy of Annual Debt Confirmations prepared by Staff Accountant - Facilitate the annual audit and tax progress and assist in training the Real Estate Staff Accountants - Collaborate with Asset Management for policy and process improvements - Carry out ad hoc reporting and analysis as required. Requirements - Applicant must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Property Accountant role or similar field. - Proficiency in Account Coding is a requirement for this position. - Must be well-versed with Accounting Software Systems. - Knowledge and experience of ADP - Financial Services is necessary. - Familiarity with AMSI is required. - Working knowledge of AppFolio software is a must. - Candidate should be capable of performing all Accounting Functions efficiently. - Ability to handle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is essential. - Proficiency in Accrual Accounting is needed. - Experience in Auditing is a critical requirement for this role.
