Position Summary
The Mineral Area College Theater Faculty and Director is multifaceted, encompassing instructional and administrative responsibilities. This position requires a dynamic individual capable of teaching a range of college-level theater courses, including acting, stagecraft, theater history, and playwriting. Through a course-release per semester, the position is also responsible for coordinating the theater program's operations, theater general maintenance, scheduling of events, and institutional partnership with the Mineral Area Fine Arts Academy (MAFAA).
This position will oversee all aspects of Mineral Area College theatrical productions, from production selection and budgeting to casting, directing, and technical execution. They will also be responsible for student recruitment, curriculum development, and fostering partnerships with transfer institutions and regional fine arts organizations. A strong commitment to student success, excellent communication and organizational skills, and a proven track record of theatrical production are essential for this position. Additional instructional opportunities with MAFAA are available during off-contract days and times, including summer months.

Technical skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication as well as proficiency in the use of computers, the internet, and various office equipment are required. Experience with budget management and online course delivery is preferred. Ability to perform technical aspects of theater production including, but not limited to, lighting, sound, and set design.
Experience
Education:
A master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Theater Arts or a closely related field is required. Terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in Theater Arts or a related field is preferred. Candidates making ample progress to obtain graduate credentialing will be considered.
Work Experience:
Proven experience in directing and/or designing theater productions is required. Demonstrated experience in teaching theater at the college level preferred.
Industry Knowledge:
Experience in technical theater areas (set design, lighting, sound, costumes, etc.) is required. Experience in playwriting or devising original work is preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Working in a professional office environment, this position requires sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, light lifting, grasping, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
