Job Description
The Corporate Director Patient Access is responsible for administering, coordinating, and reviewing the performance of patient access functions across the organization. The Corporate Director Patient Access serves as a direct support to company-wide intake departments, consistently identifying and implementing new and emerging strategies to increase efficiency, improve processes, and enhancing the patient experience. As part of achieving these goals, the Director, Corporate Patient Access identifies opportunities to work with leaders in other areas including clinical services, compliance, business development, and the business office to ensure regulatory compliance, increase care coordination, and improve efficiency between department and entities. This is a remote position that requires travel up to 50%.
Essential Functions: - Serves as an active member of the Corporate Operations team, partnering with hospital and system leadership to align patient access with organizational strategy and objectives.
- Provides direct supervision to intake departments and ensures consistency of operations across hospitals, emergency departments, and affiliated facilities.
- Assists in the orientation of new intake leaders to support consistent practices and successful onboarding across the system.
- Coaches, mentors, and orients intake leaders to ensure accountability, regulatory compliance, and consistent practices across the system.
- Works with intake leadership to streamline patient access processes, improve efficiency, and standardize practices across all facilities.
- Ensures compliance with hospital policies, state and federal regulations, CMS requirements, and organizational quality and safety standards.
- Provides strategic direction for staffing, recruitment, retention, and compensation to ensure patient access departments are appropriately resourced.
- Collaborates with clinical, nursing, and business office leadership to integrate intake with hospital operations and maintain seamless financial and registration processes.
- Oversees data collection, analysis, and quality improvement activities to evaluate patient access performance and outcomes.
- Ensures completion of required financial processes including admissions, pre-certification, and benefit verification.
- Builds strong working relationships across the system, including contracted facilities, to resolve patient access issues and maintain effective services.
- Demonstrates organizational leadership by fostering collaboration, accountability, and a patient-centered culture throughout the system.
- Performs other duties and projects assigned.
Requirements Eductation / Experience: - Masters Degree in Healthcare, RN or related area
- Five years of experience with at least 3 years of leadership in the director level or greater. Experience in Acute Care/Behavioral health required. Experience with regulatory compliance (JC, CMS).
Skills / Abilities: - Ability to make good decisions within assigned scope of authority

- Ability to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs at the hospital level
- Strong collaboration skills; able to build alliances and work effectively across departments and within a matrixed system
Work Environment: Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to atmosphere. Work require spending approximately 90% or more of the time inside a building that offers protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
